Do older men realize that younger women usually do not prefer them?

I am 57. i started sleeping and or dating younger women in my mid 30s. My first was 19 when I was 35. She worked at the front desk in my department in one of the hospitals I covered She was a cute and sassy redhead. I love redheads. I always made a point to chat her up whenever possible. Over time our banter became more flirtatious. But still I never really thought she was interested in me in that way. Then one night I ran into her downtown. She had gotten separated from her friends.
